Bo grew up in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee before attending college at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science with an emphasis in Public Administration. Bo also minored in both Industrial Relations and Mass Communications while at MTSU.
Following graduation, Bo moved to Knoxville, Tennessee and spent 11 years traveling around the Tennessee Valley representing approximately 3,000 employees of the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA).
In his previous career, Bo was responsible for analyzing compensation and benefits data; then utilizing the data to make recommendations during the collective bargaining process. Bo was also responsible for researching the legitimacy of grievances filed by employees and advocating on their behalf during mediation and arbitrations. He truly considers his 11 years of experience listening to employees, performing research, and analyzing data invaluable to his practice.
In 2007, Bo earned a Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) from the University of Tennessee – Knoxville. In 2012, he decided to switch careers because he felt like he wanted to have greater impact in the world. This transition has given him the opportunity to create the Sutton Financial Flat-Fee Financial Planning Model to help people keep more of what they earn in the market and have the knowledge to make better financial decisions.
Bo has two children, Haila Marie and James Brandon, who are his world. Outside of work, Bo is passionate about the Tennessee Vols and finding ways to help people, his community and world.
